Ah the Wonders of Science

Veruca Salt: Will Violet always be a blueberry?
Willy Wonka: No. Maybe. I dunno. But that's what you get from chewing gum all day, it's just disgusting.
Mike Teavee: If you hate gum so much, why do you make it?
Willy Wonka: Once again you really shouldn't mumble, 'cause it's kinda starting to bum me out.

I was in kindergarten the first time I saw Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (that's the original version). I recall being rather intrigued by two things in particular. Everlasting gobstoppers. And the "three course meal gum." Now, researchers may have made flavor-changing gum a reality. Let's just hope they've managed to get rid of the unfortunate side effects.

That will be so awesome if a chatty, annoying girl named Violet Beauregard is the first one to test it! I love both the movies, but the first one had a scene that freaked me out when i was little: the tunnel scene. But I love johnny depp in the newer one!

Awesome!

I played Veruca Salt in my community theater play last year. x) A really funny role.

Awesome! Then again I don't know if I'd be crazy about, say, turkey-dinner-favoured gum. :D

Have you ever had everlasting gobstobbers? They don't look as cool as in the movie but they change taste and colors and everything!

Wow, that's so awesome! The old version of Willy Wonka was definitely my favorite version! I love Johnny Depp, but that movie was kind of dull. I was Violet Beauregarde in an Elementary school play, I loved it. Haha. (:

Ha! That is totally AWESOME!!! They have that berry-to-mint one, and it tastes pretty good, but you can still taste the berry when it turns to mint. I love the whole idea of Willy Wonka. I like the first movie when they're in the facctory, and the newer one when they're outside of it.

Did you know that when they released the first movie, they also released a Wonka bar, thinking the movie would help advertise the (at the time) new Wonka Bar? They thought it would be just a fun little movie to help get the candy bar going, and that the Wonka bar would be the candy bar that will last throughout generations. But shortly after they were both released, there was a fault in the formula of the candy bar, and it had to be withdrawn.

Instead, it was the movie that lasted for generations...

huh. i think my brother has flavor changing gum. but i would love to chew a piece of gum that would make me temporarily blue or purple-without the side affect of inflation, of course. that does not seem fun, especially with the oompa loompas rolling you around and singing an insulting song (though, when their songs are directed at someone else, theyre quite amusing). and i remember watching the newer version of the movie with my brother a few years back-i liked it, but it freaked him out. but it was about candy!! and oompa loompas!! and rivers made of chocolate!!

Seriously?! That is absolutely brilliant! I loved both movies, but I have to say that I liked the second one better. Oh, and has anyone else noticed that the titles vs. movies thing is a little backwards? The first one, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, focuses mainly on Charlie. The second one, Charlie and the Chocolte Factory, focuses a lot on Willy Wonka...What's up with that?!
